Introduction to Firearms for Women
A Comfortable Place to Learn
Monmouth Fish & Game periodically offers an Introduction to Firearms for Women, designed especially for women with little or no previous firearms experience.
We understand that learning about firearms for the first time can sometimes feel intimidating. This program is designed to remove that pressure and provide a welcoming environment where participants can learn at their own pace, ask questions, and become comfortable with firearms under the supervision of experienced instructors.
The day begins with an emphasis on the fundamentals of firearm safety. Participants learn about different types of firearms, how they operate, ammunition, safe handling, loading and unloading, range procedures, proper grip and stance, sight alignment, trigger control, and basic marksmanship.
After establishing those fundamentals, participants have an opportunity for supervised, hands-on range instruction. Instructors work with participants to reinforce safe practices and help them become increasingly comfortable and confident.
No previous firearms experience is necessary.
The program isn’t about competition, speed, or how well someone shoots. It’s about providing women with the knowledge and experience necessary to safely and confidently understand and handle firearms.
Questions are encouraged, and beginners are welcome.
