Trap shooting has been a proud tradition at Monmouth Fish & Game since the club’s earliest days, bringing generations of shooters together for recreation, friendly competition, and camaraderie.

Our Recreational Trap Program is open to members and the public, and shooters of all experience levels are welcome. If you’re new to trap, don’t hesitate to come give it a try—there are plenty of experienced shooters willing to explain the game, answer questions, and help newcomers get started safely.

Trap is a classic shotgun sport in which shooters attempt to break clay targets launched away from them at varying angles. A standard round consists of 25 targets, with shooters rotating through five different shooting stations. It’s easy to learn, challenging to master, and a great way to develop shotgun handling, accuracy, timing, and consistency.

The atmosphere at Monmouth Fish & Game is relaxed and welcoming. You don’t need to be an experienced competitor—our program is about enjoying the shooting sports, improving your skills, and spending time with others who share an interest in the outdoors.

Join us every Thursday from June through September, starting at 4 PM. The cost is just $5 per round of 25 shots.

Come break some clays, meet some great people, and become part of Monmouth Fish & Game’s longstanding trap shooting tradition!
