ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
ALWAYS keep the firearm unloaded until ready to use.
ALWAYS know your target and what is beyond it.

 

All Federal, State, and Local firearms laws shall be obeyed.
Ensure that your gun is safe to operate
Know how to operate the gun safely
Only use correct ammunition for your gun
Eye and Ear protection shall be worn by all on the range while the range is HOT.
Target frames & targets shall be placed so shots strike mid-berm or below.
In addition to the above rules, the 20 Yard Range is limited to one individual or entity at a time.

When the range is declared HOT, firing may commence:

  • On both the 50 Yard and 100 Yard ranges, the firing line is located at the forefront of the cement pads. Please ensure that you remain positioned behind this line at all times.
  • On the 20 Yard range, the firing line is not in a fixed position. It is crucial to take all necessary precautions and measures to maintain a safe shooting environment.
  • Communicate and coordinate with all other shooters on the range.
  • Before shooting, check to ensure that everyone has their eye and ear protection in place.


When the line and range is declared CLEAR:

  • All firearms shall be holstered, benched or grounded.
  • Unholstered muzzles shall point downrange with magazines removed.
  • Unholstered actions shall be open and up, with safeties on.
  • Shooters shall stand back from firearms when other shooters are downrange.
  • Absolutely NO handling of ANY firearms while the range is clear.


When a CEASE FIRE command is given (Anyone may declare Cease Fire):

  • Shout “Cease Fire! Cease Fire! Cease Fire!”
  • Stop shooting IMMEDIATELY.
  • Remove your finger from the trigger.
  • Keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction – downrange.
  • Wait for further instruction or explain the reason for Cease Fire.

RANGE RESTRICTIONS

  • Members are totally responsible for the conduct and actions of their guests. Members will ensure that their guests comply with these and other club rules while on the Monmouth Fish & Game complex.
  • Family, guests, or those younger than 18 must be under direct supervision by the member at all times.
  • A limit of 1 (one) guest per member per visit
  • A guest may visit the range with a member a maximum of 3 (three) times, after which membership is expected.
  • Younger children must be under direct control (within reach) at all times.
  • No Smoking on the range. No Alcohol or Drug use before or during range use.
  • Know and follow your prescription medication recommendations or warnings.

 RANGE USE RULES

Firearms

  • Rifles, shotgun slugs and pistols may be used on the 20, 50 or 100 yard range.
  • Shot is to be used only with a large shotgun target or patterning board and frame.
  • Only controlled, aimed fire at all times – absolutely no cross-lane firing.
  • Full automatic firearms may be used only at organized events.
  • Heavy magnum sporting or military rifles larger than typical North American large game calibers accelerate berm damage and increase noise heard by our neighbors and must be okayed by the Range Officer.

Targets

  • Use paper or stick-on targets only on target stands.
  • Center targets to avoid shooting frames.
  • Remove targets after use.
  • No use of clays, glass, metal, or brittle plastic as targets on the pistol & rifle ranges.
  • Member-owned factory-made targets may be used at appropriate distances.
  • No Tracers, Incendiary or Exploding projectiles or targets on range.

Cleanup

  • All spent cartridges and shotgun hulls to be picked up after shooting.
  • DO NOT place loaded ammo or shotgun hulls in the trash.
  • Use buckets provided for spent brass. Spent metal can be thrown in trash.
  • All duds must be put in the PVC receptacles.

Other

  • Membership cards must be displayed at all times on the range.
  • Inspect the range for hazards before and after use.
  • No vehicles on range while shooting – see Range Officer for special needs.
  • Range Use Rules may be altered for specific planned events.
